Tears rolled down the cheeks of many an audience member at the first public performance of 'Well Groomed'. An original one-act comedy by Ian Townsend and performed by Northern Elastic Theatre Company, it was first aired in finished form for just two nights last weekend.
'Well Groomed' is a farcical 60-minute play about child actor Jack's wedding night, which takes a few unexpected turns and not always to his advantage.
The cast are all familiar faces and well accomplished actors, and the delivery was professional and polished. But they seemed to give something extra for this special performance.
Everyone gave great comic performances. Each was eccentric but gave the character a depth and a history that drew those watching into the tale.
'Well Groomed' was fast-paced fun and it was obvious the audience could have enjoyed another hour of the same - if their sides weren't on the verge of splitting.
